Easing the mind with positivity

In life we come across choices that rely on thoughts or answers. Typically, these thoughts and answers are classified as positive or negative thoughts. Only recently have I been fixated on the topic of negative and positive ways to view death.
Naturally, it can be easy to focus on the negative, especially when confronted with the topic of death. This can result in the thoughts of creating anxiety out of the unknown, being concerned about how loved ones will react, the fear of not doing enough, and the paralyzing thought of being stuck with a commitment.
Though the negative thoughts are valid, why do people not think about the tragedy of death in a positive light? Being on the positive side of being aware of death can result in the mindset of closure. Closure that everyone, no matter how their life compared to yours, will die. Positive thoughts of death lead to fearless humans with no limits. There's less worrying about what will happen, less concern about what others think of you, and being able to make tough life decisions.

The argument I’m trying to convey is why think of death as a negative moment and not a positive one? Think heavily on a time that negative thoughts eased pain (it doesn't), eased worry (nope), eased stress (try again), or ended up happening (they don't). When thinking positive, you see the world in a happier light. Death should be one thought and experience that requires a positive outlook. Dwell on the positivity in the thoughts of death; you might find your mind at ease.

  1. Typically death is thought of as something negative because when you hear the word death, generally you will think that something is rotting away or dying instead of remembering the good ways that the thing has contributed to a social society. This is because there is nothing positive about the fact that the thing once contributing to a social society will no longer be contributing to anything instead it is gone and that is the part that hits the hardest. Death is never positive because it is portrayed in the media as something that turns the environment into a dark-grey, blackish place and since the media has a heavy influence on culture that is also one reason why many cultures don't like to discuss the topic. Death is never positive especially when you see something die right in front of you which makes the experience of death significantly more tragic. Death can never be positive because the people who contribute to a death get punished and usually the punishment for contributing to death is the life of the contributor being taken away in order to attempt to compensate for that death. Death is almost just as bad for the people surrounded by the death;even though they didn't contribute to the death, they still beat themselves up looking for ways to bring that object back and compare life with that object as well as life without it.

    1. Not necessarily. Death has been socially constructed to be something bad. Most of what you speak on is murder. One can die without someone else killing them. The question i pose therefore is, "When you die in your sleep, is it still bad?" Simply death is the end of your time on this earth. It should be celebrated in my opinion, and not mourned. Death should be the Celebration of life. When one graduates from College, it is seen as a good thing, even though we know not where we'll go next in life. We should see death in the same way. Basically your life on earth has ended, and you do not know what happens next, and yet you can hope it's good. A graduation from earth as compared to a graduation from College. Both should be Celebrated in my opinion. Perspective is all my friend.

    2. Death should be normalized in our society so that people experiencing it would not feel alone. It will also curb the notion that someone has to resist death instead of living their best life. There is a reason why most doctors have a do not resuscitate document signed and believed that people should die with dignities; not with invasive machines. That does not mean that death should be glorified because that may lead to people to commit suicide and not appreciate their lives.

  2. The angle taken on the way to death should be seen is phenomenal. We should remember that anyone who dies becomes nothing but a memory. Memory of the great people before us still lives with us. Seeing death as a positive thing bring you closure as an individual. We can tell others of the good they did, instead of cry and be sad for weeks or months. We should see death as a celebration of one's life. The good they have done till the end of their life should be what people celebrate. Death may as well be the end of one life, and the beginning of another. Dwelling on the positivity of death, will help ease the pain of a loss. Death shouldn't be viewed as negative because, it is a fate everyone must meet. We can mourn the dead and also view death as a positive thing.

  3. The human brain at its most basic level of instinct is like a computer using Boolean logic. Everything is assigned either a negative or positive value, yes or no. For survival instinct things simplified that far, the fear of death is also a part of this instinct, without it the human race would have perished. The mourning of another's life is because the set value to death is of course death. The reason we feel anything at all even if we logically believe they are in a better place is because the set value death in another is equal to the set value of death in yourself, we instinctively mourn because our subconscious cant set the values apart, we are mourning ourselves. With the development of self awareness in humans we mourn for the person who died and know justification to our feelings. Death is viewed as negative because both our sub-conscious and conscious states mutually agree for different reasons that death is negative. It is hard but for the sake of moving on with your life you have to change this to a positive view for closure.
